Kyushu Seihyo in Fukuoka showcases its “Hanagori” – a type of arrangement where the flowers are trapped in ice. KS has been making hanagori for over 30 years and can encase pretty much anything in ice – flowers, plastic toys, even champagne. Their method of freezing objects which retains the objects’ shape and keeps the ice transparent is a safely guarded secret.
In Japan, we typically cool ourselves down in the summer with ghost stories, shaved ice, and bad jokes.
