Can I rent movies through Japan Flix if I live outside of the United States?

Firstly, Japan Flix determines your country based on the billing address of your credit card. So, if you live in the United Kingdom, but have a credit card with a billing in the United States, your country would be the United States.

Secondly, whether or not you can stream movies through Japan Flix depends on the product. Currently, products in the Pink Eiga label are available worldwide, excluding Japan. All other products are available only the in the United States or Canada.

Finally, the reason why not all Japan Flix products are available worldwide is because movies and television shows are licensed to distributors and retail outlets such as Japan Flix on a “per region” basis. Pink Eiga has kindly given Japan Flix license to stream worldwide, excluding Japan. Japan Flix is currently working to obtain licenses for other regions.

Why won’t my video play?

Please try the following steps and if you are still having trouble accessing your rental, contact the Customer Support Team.

  • Confirm that the product you are trying to rent is available in your region. Currently, only products in the Pink Eiga label are available outside of the United States and Canada.
  • Check if you completed your order. If you received a receipt in your inbox, the transaction was successful. Otherwise, your credit card may have been declined.
  • If you receive the error message below, visit your account page, hit “refresh” in your browser, and try accessing the product again.

If you still have trouble accessing your rental, contact the Customer Support Team. Contact information is located on the bar to the right.

When does a rental expire?

For most products, you have an option to rent for 2 days or 7 days. For some products, such as in the Value Pack category, products are available for longer. For example, the Skyline Battle Pack is available for 8 days.

Access to the product you rent will always expire at 12 midnight EST. However, you will always get your full 2 day or 7 days that you purchase. So, if you rent a movie for 1 day at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, you will have access to the film for 1 full day (till 1 o’clock the next day) and till midnight that night.

Is my credit card information safe?

Yes, of course! Japan Flix uses a trusted credit card processor called CCBill.

When you first make a purchase with CCBill, transactions occur on their secure, PCI compliant order form. This means that CCBill uses technologies such as SSL, which prevents your credit card information from being stolen as it travels from your computer to the credit card company.

After your first purchase is successful, CCBill stores your credit card information on their secure servers for future transactions. Again, CCBill is PCI compliant, which means
that they also meet the standards for safely storing sensitive customer information.

Our credit card processing is so secure, not even Japan Flix can see your credit card information!

How come Japan Flix doesn’t have (insert movie name here)?

Japan Flix is still a small start-up with only a few employees. We’re working hard to build the support from customers and relationships with content providers necessary to expand our catalog.

You can always check out our Coming Soon section to keep up to date on upcoming content.

Japan Flix also talks about films in its blog, Musings. If you see a movie being discussed that you’re interested in, leave a comment.
