Fuji TV announced the new drama for its coveted Monday 9 o’clock slot. The show is titled “Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu” or, in English, “Why I can’t love”.
The drama will follow the lives of three woman who for their respective reasons have trouble finding romance. Emi, played by Karina, cannot forget about her ex-boyfriend; Mako, played by Oshima, is needy and comes off too strong on men; and Saki, played by Yoshitaka, has simply never felt true love before.
Toshiyuki Nakano, the producer for the show, comments that his inspiration for the show was the growing polarization of women into those who have found love and those who have yet to find love. He hopes that the female audience will sympathize with Emi’s “attractive exterior with an awkward and sensitive interior” character.
“Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu” will be airing from this October. With a solid cast and the can’t-go-wrong rom-com formula, it sounds like Fuji TV’s got a winner.
