Claimer: Case1

Naoto Tsugimura, head of customer service at a major food and beverage company, receives a strange complaint from an angry caller who claims to have found insects in his mineral water. Tsugimura is unable to appease him, and soon finds that this mysterious claimer is beginning to infiltrate his life, harassing and stalking him, but always out of Tsugimura’s sight. Nothing Tsugimura does – apologizing, fighting back - seems to make any difference. Meanwhile the claimer’s rage continues to escalate, until finally reaching a shocking conclusion.

WHAT IS A CLAIMER?

The Japanese word “claimer” (originated from the corresponding English word) refers to the customer who excessively, and usually unreasonably, complains. It entered common parlance in the late 90s when an audio recording of an irate complaint handler at Toshiba became viral on the net. WHO'S THAT HOTTIE?

Shuji Kashiwabara plays Tsugimura in Claimer: Case 1. Kashiwabara has been in over 60 television dramas and over 30 feature films since his debut in 1994. This includes the movie Three String Samurai, which Japan Flix also carries. He's also performed in bands such as No'where and STEEL.

Ryo Shihono plays the younger sister of Tsugimura. Shihono is a popular gravure idol born in 1991. Her repertoire of works include appearances in plays, films, TV series, and even voice actressing. She is a close friend of Miu Nakamura, who stars in Teke Teke 2

Claimer: Case 1 is an honestly enjoyable psycho-horror flick. The distinct Japanese handling of customer support creates the source of this movie’s unique horror. Till the very end, you’ll be kept on the edge of your seat wondering whether Tsugimura is merely going insane or if he’s actually chasing a psychopath. The ending was a nice surprise.
