The Japanese Wife Next Door is a two part pink film by director Yutaka "Mr. Pink" Ikejima. The two parts tell two "what-if" scenarios of a typical salaryman's life as he decides who to marry: the beautiful girl or the rich girl.
In Part 1, the protagonist chooses the beautiful girl, played by sexy bombshell Reiko Yamaguchi. However, upon marrying her, he finds out that she is a secret nymphomaniac. As a result of too much sex, he becomes impotent. To satiate her lust, the nympho ends up seducing the rest of his family! In addition to being about sex and comedy there is some hint of a message coming from director, Mr. Pink. As OneMetal.com says, "This is a rare Pink film that manages to balance the satire and the sex."
In Part 2, the protagonist chooses the rich girl. This time, the man finds out her family is a bunch of sado-masochistic sociopaths! Part 2 fascinates the audience further with a slightly darker mood. TheDigitalFix.com states, "The follow-up retains the same levels of oddball activity present in Ikejima’s first tale, but it gradually descends into far blacker territory with its shades of Takashi Miike and Kim Ji-wun." And for fans of Reiko, she reprises her role as the beautiful one again.
