snow on Mt Fuji

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that Mt. Fuji saw it’s first snow of this season on September 24th. That’s six days sooner than average, one day before last year’s first snowfall, and 46 days later than the earliest recorded first snowfall in 1894. In Japanese, the term for “the first time a mountain’s peak is covered in snow” is called Hatsu Kansetsu (初冠雪).
